Greg captains England to Glory on Home Soil
Greg’s debut as Bowls England Indoor Captain saw great success last weekend at Falcon Indoor Bowls Club in Chelmsford. The England team began their campaign with a comfortable 48 shot victory over Ireland. Scotland who have been England’s strongest competitors over the years also started strong with a 45 shot victory against Wales.
England’s second game of the British Isles Series was against Wales. This left Scotland to play Ireland on the same day. Scotland got off to a good start and kept a comfortable lead. At the 10 ends mark, England and Wales were level at 65-65. In the second half of the match England went up a gear leading to a 35-shot victory.
On the final day, England and Scotland battled it out for the trophy. The matches between England and Scotland always bring great rivalry, passion and memorable moments. This matchup is often the highlight of many players’ careers. It was the same winner takes all scenario in last year’s series which took place in Paisley, Scotland. England won last year and Scotland were bound to be out for revenge. England kept their cool and managed to control the last ends of the match to retain their title in a 112-107 victory.
Congratulations to Greg and the team.
